Discover the difference with WVCEA athletics!

As Christians, athletics should hold a different position in our hearts than it does for the world. Our focus should be Christ, living for him, and growing in our Christian walk.

The crowd cheers, the buzzer sounds, and a team wins the game, but the benefits of what occurred are long-lasting. Interscholastic sports are exploding nationwide, and the benefits are widely touted.

High School student-athletes have a higher graduation rate, more confidence, and perform well in post-high school jobs. 95% of Fortune 500 executives participated in high school sports (Fortune Magazine).

As Christians, athletics should hold a different position in our hearts than it does for the world. Our focus should be Christ, living for him, and growing in our Christian walk. This does not mean that athletics should be absent from our lives but should look different from the world. The WVCEA seeks to promote the benefits of interscholastic athletic competitions while offering our families a unique experience.

Discover the WVCEA difference! Our athletic tournaments begin with a devotional on the first morning and include a prayer before every game. We strive to promote a positive environment for players, coaches, and officials throughout our tournament. All-State teams are awarded, and players receive honors based on their efforts throughout the season (both on and off the field of play).

The sights and sounds of a WVCEA tournament will be different from other tournaments, but the competition remains exceptionally high. WVCEA tournaments are highly competitive, with many evenly matched teams that are competitive not only with WVCEA schools but also schools outside of the conference.

The WVCEA currently offers ten sports, with plans for more! Our athletes can compete at a variety of levels in sports like volleyball, soccer, and basketball. Cross Country and Golf have also been added in recent years to round out the athletic experience. The WVCEA aims to allow our student-athletes to participate and excel in sports in a unique interscholastic environment. We encourage our coaches and athletic departments to pour into our athletes and help guide and disciple them. As we are helping them grow in their skills on the court, we also want to see them succeed off the court. Our conference is about more than wins and losses; our reward is eternal, and our ultimate reward is in heaven.
