Embracing Hope: a Christ-honoring education for parents in West Virginia.

The Hope scholarship is vital in making a Christ-honoring education accessible to many families in West Virginia.

Our culture is constantly changing, but the unchanging truth of God’s Word sets the foundation for the education of our children!

Thankfully, we live in a country that allows us to train our children in the way they should go. Christian education reinforces the values of Christian homes and Bible-believing churches. This integration of faith and learning strengthens student’s understanding of Scripture and develops critical thinking skills that prepare them to live for Christ.

A Christ-honoring education goes beyond simply teaching Bible stories and verses. It encompasses a holistic approach that integrates faith into every aspect of a child’s education. From math and science to history and literature, students are encouraged to see the world through the lens of God’s Word. This system blends Biblical principles with rigorous academics to equip students with the tools they need to live successfully in God’s world.

God ordained two institutions for the education of children: the home (Deuteronomy 6:6-9) and the church (Matthew 28:18-20). Public education began in our country in 1647 when the Old Deluder Satan Act was passed into law. The religious basis of this law was explicit: the stated intention was to thwart “ye old deluder, Satan” in his goal “to keep men from the knowledge of the Scriptures.” Today the public education system that began to help students understand the scriptures has veered far from its original intent. Unfortunately, many of the principles taught in schools today undermine the truth of God’s Word. Many now view truth as something that every individual must decide for themselves. As something they can only find deep within themselves – while the Bible would teach us that the

heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). John 17:17 tells us we are to “sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” We learn to spot error by handling the truth – God’s Word is truth!

In a world that often promotes values and beliefs contrary to the teaching of Scripture, children must have a solid foundation in God’s Word to guide and direct their life choices. Christian schools partner with Bible-believing homes and churches to reinforce Biblical values and beliefs during the school day. Christian educators inspire their students to seek God's wisdom and guidance. Teachers help students develop a solid moral compass to steer them toward a life of integrity, purpose, and faithfulness to God.

The Hope scholarship is vital in making a Christ-honoring education accessible to many families in West Virginia. This scholarship program provides financial assistance to eligible students attending WVCEA member schools, making it possible for more families to choose a Christian education for their children. By removing financial barriers, the Hope scholarship opens doors for parents to provide students with a quality education that nurtures their faith and, equips their minds, and prepares them for success.

In a world that often feels uncertain and overwhelming, we are filled with Hope for what Christ is doing in the hearts and lives of our students. A Christ-honoring education equips students with knowledge and skills and teaches them to trust the faithful One who loves them with steadfast love. By nurturing their relationship with God and helping them develop a Biblical worldview, Christian educators in West Virginia play a vital role in shaping the next generation of leaders who will positively impact their communities and the world for Christ.

The future is bright in West Virginia; we have great freedom and hope because Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!
