July Hope Scholarship Update

Great News From Hope Scholarship Families

In May, State Treasurer Larry Pack, who serves as Chairman of the Hope Scholarship Board, encouraged Hope Scholarship participants who were enrolled in the program for the 2025-2026 school year to fill out a Parent Satisfaction Survey. The full results of that Survey will be released in September.

“Since I took office, it has been our goal to better understand why parents are choosing the Hope Scholarship for their children,” Treasurer Pack said. “It is clear parents are taking advantage of additional options within our education system to find the best fit for their child’s unique needs – and we want to learn more about that. We truly believe this data can be beneficial to conversations we are having with policy makers, the media, and the public.”

The survey includes 12 multiple choice questions and one open-ended question for families to provide detailed feedback of their experience with the Hope Scholarship Program.

The overwhelming opinions of parents of children participating in the Hope Scholarship were very positive.

Since the application deadline for full 2026-2027 participation:

  • More than 25,000 applications have been completed for the 2026-2027 school year.

  • The Hope Scholarship Program may be the largest school district in West Virginia, leading Kanawha County which has over 22,000 students.

Below is a peak at the survey results:

The number #1 reason families chose the Hope Scholarship Program to educate their child was because they “wanted to be able to provide a religious-based education.”
